Tips to reduce flooding risk to your home during extreme rainfall
1
Remove debris from nearest storm drain, ditch or culvert
2
Clean out eavestroughs
3
Correct grading to direct water at least 2m from foundation
4
Install window wells to sit 10-15cm above ground & upgrade to water-resistant windows
5
Disconnect downspouts and cap foundation drains. Don't let roof water go directly to your foundation.
6
Install a sump pump to protect your basement from water. Additionally, a backup pump & battery, tested regularly, will provide further protection from your home.
